Using the ultrasonic method with phased array technologies takes the versatility of the method but adds the power of increased detail and recording to enable more insightful analysis and better comparison of findings from one inspection to another.
Phased array can be used similary to standard techniques, enabling faster inspections with regular recording techniques. Alternatively the equipment can be used to record data from the volumetric inspection of a part/material which can be assessed in detail using digital tools to cross section the material (B-scan) or mapping an area (C-scan) as a colour map representing thickness and/or defect analysis data.
