Who We Are

International NDT Ltd specialises in creating bespoke inspections of composite or metallic parts using non-destructive methods including ultrasound and dye penetrant.

The company was founded in July 2019, based on 13 years of experience in the leisure marine industry as the NDT division within Marine Results International Ltd.

The creation of International NDT is in recognition of the demand for the skills and experience gained using aerospace methods and techniques adapted to examine composite and metallic parts on yachts that are applicable to other industries.

International NDT retains its focus on leisure marine, offering risk-management/insurance assessments, damage assessment and in-production quality assurance services to vessels of all sizes from weekender power and sailing boats to the world’s largest yachts.

The company focuses is on hands-on expertise with an emphasis on rapid response and personal attention to the clients’ needs.

Increasingly, the inspection team is working on projects across a range of industries including power generation, automotive, aerospace, defence and R&D, developing specific inspection programs to facilitate quality and damage assessment, preparation for life extension of parts and development of manufacturing methods.

Our team are all specifically trained with our partner Lavender NDT Ltd reaching EN4179/NAS410/SNT TC-1A standards.

Through our expertise the organisation also inputs to the ISO developing a standard on the ‘Assessment of Composite Masts and Rigging’.

Meet the Team

Ed Danby

Ed Danby

Ed is a project manager with 30 years of continuous progression in high-level yacht racing and marine consultancy. He has completed two Whitbread round the World Races, competed in three America’s Cups and broken the round the world record sailing on Enza, skippered by the late Sir Peter Blake. During all these projects Ed has supervised the rig programme.

Jon Morris

Jon Morris

Jon has been a specialist in masts and rigging for 20 years and is a qualified Navtec hydraulic service agent. He was previously Technical director of Formula Yacht Spars and Rigging Manager for Hood Yacht Spars. He has managed the spar build process of Volvo and America’s Cup projects and numerous superyachts.

Rich Freemantle

Rich Freemantle

Inspector and consultant with over 25 years’ experience in non-destructive testing (NDT) of composite structures in aerospace, marine and wind energy. PhD in ultrasonic NDT for adhesively bonded structures. Works in the commercial NDT sector specialising in the development of inspection technologies for high performance composites. Richard’s collaboration with Marine Results, the company from which International NDT has emerged, started 18 years ago, helping the company to develop advanced inspection techniques for yacht structures and provide technical NDT advice.

Ben Porteous

Ben Porteous

A Project Manager responsible for planning and control of the major rig work and NDT projects, Ben has over 20 years’ marine industry experience. Ben has his Level Two Dye Penetrant Inspection Qualification.

Before joining, Ben was Project Manager Ocean Yacht Systems & Project Manager Berthon Boat Company.
