Destructive Testing
International NDT - Case Study

Destructive Testing

It is imperative that data for the safe working loads of large yacht components are known, since superyacht loads are enormous.  International NDT carries out destructive testing on new rig products to determine a safety working load, an example being the tests that were carried out on a new Tripp 85 metre grand prix yacht. The data is used to produce ultra-safe running rigging and sheets.  Meanwhile hydraulic cylinder servicing is also carried out for a number of large superyachts.

International NDT is closely allied with Marine Results International, the company from which it evolved. Marine Results regularly manufactures rigging packages at the Hamble facility, producing tender lifting bridles, tow lines, mooring lines and full running rigging packages, so International NDT works closely to support Marine Results to ensure that all their products are safe.

The destructive testing data has enabled the same workshop to produce a full running rigging package for sailing superyacht Kokomo III, using base products supplied by the manufacturers, from which the rigging is made up.
